Hello and welcome to Saints Aid 8!
After a 2 season break, this is the eighth time that SMiSA have organised the end of season Saints Aid event and to date we have raised over £42,000 for the club. This years event, the first to be held at St. Mirren's new stadium at Greenhill Road, promises to be a truly historic occasion. It is also quite likely to be the last time that SMiSA will run the event, with future Saints Aid style events looking to be organised by the 10000 Hours CIC.
The event will raise funds for St.Mirren Youth Development and offers supporters the chance of a lifetime to be a football star for the day playing at St. Mirren Park!
The latest bidding details are shown opposite. These are updated once a day by the web team.
Saints Aid 8 Event Details
Date
The event takes place at St. Mirren Park, Greenhill Road, on Sunday May 15th 2011.
Kick off has been brought forward from the original time of 2pm, to 1pm - first thing to check is that you are free on that day at that time!
The Teams
There are 28 places up for grabs in this years event. This comprises a home and away side made up of a goalkeeper, 10 outfield players and three subs which will be used on a rolling basis at the discretion of the teams managers on the day (more on them later!).
One of the 28 jerseys (Away number 12) will be given away in a special competition which SMiSA will run in conjunction with our friends at the Paisley Daily Express. Check the newspaper for further details.
Note that in order to play you must be over 16 years of age on the day of the event!
What is on offer....
Saints fans are invited to bid for a place in one of the two teams to take part in a full 90 minute game on the St. Mirren Park pitch.
All participants will receive a full authentic St. Mirren strip to wear on the day which will be yours to keep as an everlasting momento. Please be aware that generally the kit will be pre worn by a number of the squad as these are club stock kit donated directly from St.Mirren and are not 'out the packet' items purchased from our friends at Provan Sports.
Participants this year will also be invited into the hospitality lounge (with a guest if they wish) for a complimentary drink. A couple of other SMiSA and Saints Aid 8 goodies will be presented as part of the package - more details on these to follow.
Live The Dream....
Your full strip will be hanging in either the home or away dressing rooms on the appropriate peg - you will receive a jersey, shorts and socks - goalkeepers should remember to bring gloves with them! No names will be on the strips.
The Managers
The managers have now been confirmed as Saints legend Tony Fitzpatrick, and current club defender Lee Mair. Tony will take the home team, and Lee will take the away side.
The Captains
The player wearing the number 6 jersey in each team will be allocated the captaincy of their side and will have the extra privilege of leading the teams out of the tunnel and onto the St. Mirren Park pitch.
Bidding
Bidding for all jerseys in the Saints Aid 8 spectacular start at £100. Any bid of £500 guarantees a reserve on a shirt. Bids will be accepted in increments of £10 for any of the 23 remaining jerseys on offer.
We will update the website regularly with the very latest bidding information so please check the site regularly. This year we are manually updating the bids to ensure the system is as user friendly and accessible as possible. There will be at least one update per day!
The Auction will close at 8pm sharp on Monday 2nd May - no bids received after that time will be accepted!!
Spectators
The gates at St. Mirren Park will be open on the day for friends and family to come and cheer you on. Each player will be permitted to bring one guest in to the prize giving ceremony after the game and both player and guest will receive a complimentary drink from the Saints bar.

SMiSA's preferred method of payment is via electronic bank transfer. Bidders who submit a bid of £500 to reserve their shirt outright will receive payment details promptly, as will any other winning bidders after the close of the auction on Monday, May 2nd.
